Building a secure modern mobile workspace [Workshop]

Mobile and cloud technology is changing the face of the desktop forever, providing users with the ability to be truly flexible and collaborate in new ways. However the corporate desktop is not keeping up with the rate of change, due to security risks and technical complexities.

Join ComputerWorld and VMware for this interactive workshop as they present their vision of the digital workspace for the future, incorporating solutions that allow you to take a staged journey to secure and mobilised corporate applications and data.

Throughout the morning you'll hear and discuss with the experts, experience demonstrations and take a ‘deep-dive’ look at the solutions that will drive your digital workplace transformation:

The agenda will include:

  • Learning how to deliver a compliant secure mobile desktop with VMware AirWatch and Windows 10
  • Understanding how identity is the new perimeter security and learning how you can have the confidence in controlling users’ access from one location with VMware Workspace ONE
  • Seeing how you can truly mobilise any application, on any device, with VMware Horizon VDI Desktops and Applications
  • Hearing how you can make your Microsoft Office 365 deployment truly successful in your organisation

We hope you can join us for this unique event.

VMware User Environment Manager

User Environment Manager simplifies end-user profile management by providing organisations with a single, lightweight and scalable solution that leverages existing infrastructure to apply user and application environment customisation's, faster GPO processing and powerful self-service options to allow users to restore previous versions of their profile or elements of their profile without helpdesk intervention.

Here are a just a few of the ways that UEM maybe able to help you manage your desktop estate.

  1. Eliminate the need for pre-run scripts of applications to customise toolbars or other customisable elements of the applications interface.
  2. Replace cumbersome Roaming Profiles with discretely customisable Profile policies to only retain specific elements of the Profile and disregard disposable elements to deliver efficient logon and logoff processes and eliminate bloating typically associated with roaming profiles.
  3. Simplify printer and drive mappings for all users via a central management console.
  4. Unify profile management across your entire estate be it physical, virtual or a mix of both.
  5. Control all GPO policies for your environment and make changes on the fly without users needing to log off to effect the GPO update.
  6. Reduce GPO processing when WMI filtering is used to dramatically reduce login times for users whilst retaining a complex GPO architecture.
  7. Use intuitive conditional Boolean logic to selectively apply profile and policy settings to users and applications based upon numerous different criteria.

In this webinar our Desktop Transformation specialist will give an overview of UEN, what it can do, the problems it can solve and why you should be considering it for your environment, VMware or not!

Introducing VMware NSX by Josh Coulling- Systems Engineer, VMware

I have worked in the world of Networking for much of my professional career. Several of my previous professional ventures has included, network consulting into the channel via a small channel services organisation, a tenure with Hewlett Packard Software where I was providing Pre-Sales Technical Consultant Support in the UK&I working with HP Software’s Automated Network Management Solution and most recently working with VMware fulfilling the role of Systems Engineer in the UK&I focussing on NSX.

VMware NSX is a paradigm shift in how organisations deploy networking & security services within the data center. Organisations look to deploy NSX to enable tighter & more granular security controls for lateral data center traffic, to drive automated provisioning of networking & security services and lastly to improve application & service stability and reliability.

NSX Session Agenda is as follows:

  1. What is NSX?
  2. NSX Use Cases
  3. Demonstration
  4. Integration with the physical world
  5. Case Studies / References
  6. New Licensing Model

Background

VMware NSX expands the virtualization layer from the physical layer of the server to the physical layer of the network and in consequence creates a logical framework above the physical infrastructure providing for several benefits:

  • Decoupling of network services from the physical infrastructure
  • Ease of network service deployment/migration/automation. Reduced provisioning/deployment time.
  • Scalable
